Mandy’s Lolla Picks and Tips
By Smashley on Aug 2 Filed In Chicago, Events, Food & Beverage, Live Music, Lollapalooza, Uncategorized 1 Comment
I can’t believe it is less than a week until I will be in lovely Chi-town slingin’ some Sweet Leaf Tea with my awesome tea’mates. This will be my second year attending Lolla and I couldn’t be more excited.
Last year was my practice round…this year I’m gonna be a Lolla pro!
When I’m not passing out the best tea on the planet, you can find me jamming to my favorite bands. This year, I have a huge dilemma- Coldplay or Muse? Gwyneth Paltrow’s handsome hubby or Kate Hudson’s baby daddy? Of course they are both playing at the same time Friday night! I love them both and I can’t decide! Might just come to the toss of a coin!
Lollapalooza tip: Bring a poncho! We’ve got a 50% chance of scattered T-storms on Friday in Chicago, folks!
And believe me- I am not letting anything rain on my parade! (pun intended)

Has cupid made his way to your office yet? If not, let us be the first to say, Happy Valentine’s Day!
Last Friday we had a lovely pre-Valentine’s Day shindig at the office to get everyone excited about sharing the love today.
At 4 o’clock the good times started flowing. We had:
- A homemade hibiscus, citrus, and Tito’s cocktail we coined as “Love Potion #9″ created by our Innovation Manager, of course.
- Guess the employee’s grade school photo contest: Only one person got them all right!
- Valentine’s bag decorating, JAMMED PACKED WITH GLITTER. (for Valentine’s goodies on the special day)
- A great “LoVe” mix from DJ “Loving” A
Check out the photos from the party, and we’ll be posting a video from the festivities later this week! How do you plan on spending your Valentine’s Day?
xoxo
- SLT V-Day Party Invite!
- V-Day prize pack!
- @SweetLeafDanny’s Cat Bag
- @SweetLeafIntern and @SweetLeafCharla ‘s Bags!
- Hopping Party Time!
- Talking Bags!
- Our @Titosvodka love potion
- @SweetLeafApril and her bag!
- Colby’s Bag

Awesome Art Happy Hour
By April on Feb 4 Filed In Austin, Texas 1 Comment
Living in Austin TX it’s hard to turn a corner without running into someone that’s an artist of some kind. While at the annual (awesome-sauce) Knuckle Rumbler New Years Eve party, I had the pleasure of meeting a talented dude by the name of Michael Toone.
While people bands played and people partied around him, Michael let his creative juices flow during the party, letting the party goer’s have input as he added to the painting he was working on. Live art at a party is as close to being in the artists studio as possible and is a great way to be introduced to new mediums. It’s also a great way to get to know the person behind the canvas.
He uses polyurethane, spray paint, house paint, and newspaper in the process to create these one of a kind paintings. When asked to tell me his secrets he told me this, “I build up layers with the spray paint . Then I drop polyurethane from above into the layers. More spray paint is added, and then the entire painting is covered with newspaper and ragged off. The end result is an acid wash/hyper patina type of affect. The whole process is the result of an experiment performed a year ago, and I don’t think anybody else is doing this.”
While hanging out with Michael his studio, I was invited to create a little something myself. I learned that to make something more masculine, add squares and to make the effect more feminine to add circles. The more I think about that, the more I consider how much I love bubbles and swirly patterns. (See pic I painted for an example.) The awesome background is all Michael but the layers on top are all yours truly. No, don’t worry, I won’t be quitting my day job anytime soon.
Want to see his art up close and personal and relieve some of that cabin fever brought on by the Arctic Blast of 2011?
Then head on over to Urban Squared Realty tonight (Friday February 4th) between 5-8pm for a little art (to look at AND being created in front of you), snacks, sips, and music.
Gettin’ Spooky In Austin TX

Word up and Happy Friday to you all! It occurred to me that maybe some of y’all are like me and are procrastinators when it comes to figuring out what you’re going to do for Halloween weekend this year. If that’s the case and you live in or around the Austin TX area, I’ve got a cool list of things that I plan on doing and thought maybe you’d dig too! Have your own agenda this weekend? Post it in our comments section! We don’t care where you live, just tell us what you have going on!
Friday 10/29
Personally, I am laying low tonight, at least that’s my plan. There is so much going on Saturday that I can’t possibly handle Friday too, but if you are looking for something fun to do, check out the Do512 page. There are so many events going on that you’ll have to come up with 3 different costumes just so all of your peeps won’t catch you wearing the same thing out Friday-Sunday! Below you’ll see the costume I’ve chosen for today. Yup, I am the only one here at Sweet Leaf Tea dressed up today. That’s alright. It wouldn’t be Halloween if I didn’t rock some crazy outfit! Still looking for costume ideas? @SweetLeafCharla wrote a cool post last year where she shared some good ideas. Consult and get creative!
Saturday 10/30
There is an INSANE amount of stuff going on this Saturday in and around town. Even the boot camp that I do, Fitness Unleashed is planning to have a costumed workout tomorrow morning. I won’t be there, but I’m sure it’ll be entertaining! Here’s a look at what I have coming up, but if it’s not your bottle of tea, don’t sweat it. Use that link I shared above for Do512 and check out what else is going on.
Tour de Fat The awesome folks at New Belgium throw an annual party dedicated to all things bicycle, sustainability and BEER! It starts this Saturday at Fiesta Gardens at 10:00AM for a COSTUME-FILLED parade and then the shenanigans begin! Roll on up, dress crazy, act wacky, but always, drink responsibly. It’ll be early yet!
Longhorn Game If you know me then you know that football is not my shtick but since I live in a burnt orange-crazed town, I think it’s only fair to mention that there is a game at 6PM against the Baylor Bears. Go get your tailgate on with some @TitosVodka and a touch of Granny, and watch some Horns throw down. Plus, you football fanatics will keep people off the streets for those of us out on bikes in costume.
Back to my reality…
Zombie Ball This party will be so freakin’ ridiculously off the chain that if I can’t find the time to use my tickets with all of the other fun stuff I have on my dance card, I’ll cry. Yes, really. It’s supposed to be THAT cool of a party. These partying zombies even combined their efforts with the Austin Bike Zoo to offer everyone a parade-type ride from the Red Scoot Inn to the Seaholm with all of the other zombies. MOREEEE BRAINSSSSSSSSSS!!
Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9) These guys are amazing live and are playing both Friday night and Saturday night at Stubb’s. Tickets are sold out but if you have the chance to see them, DO IT!
Did you go to STS9 and decide that you needed a little more? Good, head on over to The Parish. You will not be disappointed by what you see and hear. I am a HUGE fan of aural delights and Saturday night in Austin will be filled with them. Spooky, sultry, bass-filled and ELECTRONIC!
We are dying to know where you plan on spending the weekend. Holla!!
keep looking »
