Has cupid made his way to your office yet? If not, let us be the first to say, Happy Valentine’s Day!
Last Friday we had a lovely pre-Valentine’s Day shindig at the office to get everyone excited about sharing the love today.
At 4 o’clock the good times started flowing. We had:
- A homemade hibiscus, citrus, and Tito’s cocktail we coined as “Love Potion #9″ created by our Innovation Manager, of course.
- Guess the employee’s grade school photo contest: Only one person got them all right!
- Valentine’s bag decorating, JAMMED PACKED WITH GLITTER. (for Valentine’s goodies on the special day)
- A great “LoVe” mix from DJ “Loving” A
Check out the photos from the party, and we’ll be posting a video from the festivities later this week! How do you plan on spending your Valentine’s Day?
xoxo

Ooooooh Nelly, ACL is right around the corner!!!
Sweet Beats!
When I moved from the Midwest, I quickly received a lesson in real country music. I would be lying if I did not tell you that I am totally psyched to see some of the great Austin regulars like Pat Green, Ryan Bingham, and Robert Earl Keen. But my MUST SEE band of the festival would have to be Matt and Kim! Holy cow were they great at Lollapalooza this year. Their energy is contagious. Even if you’re not a fan, I challenge you to immerse yourself in the crowd and try to stand still during their performance of Yea Yeah. It’s like trying to sneeze with your eyes open. It just cannot be done!
Sweet Eats!
There is one dish that saved my life last year during the three day madness of ACL. Pete’s Tantalizing Tacos. For $3.50 you get two of tacos filled with eggs, sausage, cheese, potatoes, and all around goodness. Whether you pair them with a morning margarita, a peach Sweet Leaf Tea, or Gatorade and asprin, they are guaranteed to jump start your morning.

Another way we are prepping you up for the festival is by this new blog series we are launching TODAY! It’s called Sweet Beats and Eats! Each day for the next two weeks, a member of the Sweet Leaf Tea’m will shoot out a blog about their favorite band playing, as well as their favorite place to grub in Chi-town while up there, and I have the HONOR of kicking it off! It’s gonna get all types of tasty up on this here inter-web! YEAHHHHHH BOIIII!
SWEET BEAT!
OK OK, First off, MINUS THE BEAR is playing Lolla! A band I highlighted in a previous blog. They are my Sweet Beat, but due to the fact that I have already written about them, I will kick it over to my second favorite band there…..Kidz in the Hall!!!
I first saw them play during SXSW in 2009 with The Cool Kids at Momo’s lounge. Another one of my favorite acts. And they stole the stage. Bouncing and rhyming to some pretty sick beats. The native Chicago hip-hop duo met during a talent show at University of Pennsylvania and haven’t quit yet. Check out this Video and catch me at the Perry’s Stage at 4:15 on Friday and lets bounce.
Sweet Eats!
When I think Classic Chicago food, I think of two things. Hotdogs & Pizza. I could go on about Gino’s East or Giordanos. But whenever I am in Chicago I have to have at least 3 Chi-town dogs before I leave. Just ask @Robbydeem. With that being said, Portillos is the PLACE!!!! @SweetLeafJacqui will agree with me on this, being a native Chicagoian herself.
Portillos specializes in Chicago-style food and is located throughout the metropolitan area. Beef, Burgers, and Beer. One of the key items that sold me on this place is the CHEESE SAUCE for your….. CRINKLE FRIES! [Did he just say cheese sauce and crinkle fries in the same sentence? Are those two items consumed together?] Yes, and yes! And leave that holy water at home because they are BLESSEDLY GOOD! You will probably find me there on Wednesday night prior to Lolla with a Chicago dog in one hand, crinkle fries in the other, and cheese sauce on my face/hair/t-shirt. –Follow me on Twitter [@SweetLeafDanny] for Lolla updates and SUPRISES!
