In my line of work, you sort of inherently become an expert of air travel do’s and don’ts.  In the spirit of the holiday traveling season, I thought I would throw some knowledge down for all you fine folks.  This is a two parter, so brace yourself.

Happy’s Travel Tips

  1. Arrive early. It’s always better to sit around with optional things to do than to be running around the airport freaking out.
  2. Dress the part. When choosing what to wear to the airport, try not to wear auxiliary items (excessive jewelry, bulky boots or tricky footwear, lots of metal, etc).  The less you have to run through the X-ray, the faster = the better.  No one likes waiting in the security line, so do your part to not be the bottleneck.  Also, remember the climate you’re traveling to.  If you get off the plane and it’s 50 degrees cooler at your destination, you’re gonna be sad face when you don’t have a jacket handy.
  3. Check-in Time. If you’re a Southwest Airlines junkie like me, remember to check in online up to 24 hours prior to your departure.  I like to set an alarm (via Google Calendar) to remind myself so I get the best possible boarding group/number.
  4. Know the policy. Especially when it comes to checked baggage.  Most airlines charge by the bag, so plan accordingly to avoid being surprised when you get to the airport.  I’ve witnessed several folks throwing a tantrum at the ticket counter due to this — don’t be that guy.  Also, there are several items you just can’t bring with you on the plane.  Unless you find these items disposable (they will surely make you throw them away at the security gate), pack them in your checked luggage or don’t bring it at all.
  5. Back up. Don’t forget to backup your laptop and external hard drives.  Prepare for the worst.  You’ll be glad you did one day.
  6. Claim your armrest(s). If you don’t do it early from the get-go, you’ll never see it again.
  7. Cheer up. Be kind to your fellow traveler.  You never know what kind of day your neighbor is having, so don’t be a part of the problem.  Smile a little, yeah?

The Holidays are a special time for many people and here at Sweet Leaf Tea we’re no different. We enjoyed decorating the office and making the place we spend a lot of our time at, as festive as possible.

The other part of the Holidays that I am a huge fan of is giving! A couple of weeks ago I received an email from a consumer looking to buy one of our cool SLT t-shirts for her son Dan for Christmas. I explained to Cheri that our online store was not up and running but that if she sent me his size, I’d send a t-shirt and some other goodies her way. Dan was overjoyed when he opened his gift and found a plethora of SLT swag all for him! Here are some pictures of Dan sporting his new t-shirt and drinking his favorite drink.
