You're going to love this guiar.

This autographed Buzzfest '09 guitar rocks!

After reading about his Bjork experience at ACL in ‘07, it sounds like we all missed quite a show. I can imagine her intense vocals brought a knot to his throat. And I agree that Bjork is much more fierce and much more cute than Hannah Montana. Cheers to inspirational female artists and unforgettable live music experiences.

Thanks to everyone who shared their stories. We love good music and we’re glad you do too.

It was nearly impossible to escape grunge rock in the 90s. I loved it! Alice in Chains was one of my favorite bands so I was thrilled to find out Sweet Leaf Tea would be a sponsor in the Buzzfest XXIII Backstage Artist Lounge, a music fest Alice in Chains was headlining. I was especially pleased to find out William DuVall, lead signer of Alice in Chains loves Mint and Honey and buys is regularly at his local Whole Foods. It’s my favorite flavor too!

Not only would we serve up Tito’s Sweet-O’s to the guys from Chains, but would also meet Puddle of Mud, Our Lady Peace, Chevelle, Saving Abel, Tantric, Framing Hanley, Nilly Boy on Poison, Janus and many more. The weather was perfect festival weather, which you have to be thankful for in Houston, and The Woodlands Pavilion had been sold out for weeks. Sweet Leaf Tea and Tito’s Vodka stirred it up in the backstage lounge near the tour buses.

Each band was able to stroll through the backstage artist lounge and pick up a variety of rock star essentials. We made sure they had a drink in hand as they loaded their bags with gifts from official sponsors including X-Treme Lashes, Watto Distinctive Metal Wear, Tejas Custom Boots, The Horror Project, Anama Clothing, Strings by Aurora, Buitar Hands, Hard Rock Cafe, Kingmand Training, CREAM, Party Cloths of Houston and Forged Clothing.

Win that GUITAR!
The Buzzfest XXIII artists autographed a Sweet Leaf Tea Gibson Epiphone guitar and now it can be yours. Write a blog post and send it to sltfan@sweetleaftea.com about the best live music show you’ve ever seen (300 words or less). We’ll be posting entries here until the end of the month when we’ll choose our favorite post. Keep it clean, we have fans of all ages reading our blog. If you wouldn’t show it to your Granny, we won’t be showing it to ours. Contest ends 11/30/09 and we’ll announce a winner on 12/4/09.

Rock it!

If you spent your weekend out at Fun Fun Fun Fest last weekend, hopefully you noticed that Sweet Leaf Tea was out at the festival, too. We had a great time listening to some new bands (new to me, anyways) and slingin’ tea—especially in the gorgeous Saturday sunshine. Unfortunately, Sunday was a bit of an ACL repeat with all the rain, only sans Dillo Dirt.

Throughout the festival, I was scoping out artists (no I’m not a stalker) who were gracious enough to sign our Sweet Leaf Tea Gibson guitar. As soon as I mentioned that we were giving it away to one lucky fan from the festival, they were all over it. Literally, they pretty much covered every inch of it.

For a fact, I know that Crystal Antlers, Beta Player, SSion, Les Savy Fav, LAX, Foot Patrol, Of Montreal, James Husband, Danzig, Health, Red Sparowes, The Roller, Barron, and some other very fancy John Hancock’s (to be identified) have made their mark upon this black gee-tar.

So, who might be the lucky winner of this festival treasure? Congratulations to Cory Brown! Cory entered in our text campaign at the festival having never won anything in his life. Well, Cory, those days are over my friend. You are forever a winner in our book! We hope you rock it out like the rockers that signed it.

For those who didn’t win this time, be sure to check out our contest page from time to time and find out how you can join the ranks of these lucky ones.

One of the best parts about my job, (yes there are several best parts) is giving away cool prizes. I love surprising our fans with a call to announce that he or she is the lucky winner of “X”. Sometimes it’s tickets to an event like Lollapalooza, ACL or this weekend’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. Sometimes it’s tickets to a Texas Stars Hockey game. And sometimes, yes sometimes, it’s a shiny new Gibson guitar.

If you were out at ACL last month, you might have noticed that Granny was running a text to win Gibson guitar campaign. We had several entries over the course of the weekend and we were able to award 3 lucky winners one of 3 super sweet guitars. We had 2 Gibson Les Paul guitars and one psychedelic SG Zoot Suit. (Winning that rainbow guitar would make me start lessons—I love it!)

The day after ACL, I sent out texts to the winners and called to solidify the deal. All three winners just happened to be guitar players and were super excited to win such beautiful guitars. (Who wouldn’t, right?) I was happy to play Santie, but sad to see the guitars go. Especially because I never got to take them out of the box and give them each a strum or two. I leave the “christening” to the winner.

I do ask only one thing of these lucky guitar owners and that is to send me a picture back of them with their winnings. Lately, the pictures coming from the winners circle have been quite impressive—creative even. And it looks like the competition is getting steeper thanks to ACL guitar winner Dave Z. Check him out! His photo looks like a CD cover!

So, if you happen to win one of our sweet guitars from one of the many festivals Sweet Leaf Tea sponsors, know that the picture competition is on. We like to see our fans rockin’ out!

Oh, and if you’re coming out to Fun Fun Fun Fest this weekend be sure to look for the Granny head. She’ll be announcing a contest that’s triple the fun.

Granny Rockin' Out at Lollapalooza

Granny Rockin' Out at Lollapalooza

During Lollapalooza we had a huge Granny head parading around the park from time to time. It’s our little way of introducing her to the crowds, letting you know that she’s there to quench your thirst, and from time to time she’ll even offer up some sweet prizes (hint for ACL Music Fest attendees). Well, this year at Lolla she was most often seen saying, “Rock Out with Your Cell Out” followed by a text to win promotion. All phone equipped individuals who saw her had the opportunity to text in a special code for a chance to win prizes including the grand prize which was a brand spankin’ new SG Gibson Guitar. Although many sweet, sweet fans entered, there was only one fan that struck gold.

And the winner is…

Zachary! Congratulations on your winnings! We can see from the pictures you sent us that you are a rock star in the making. We only have one bit of advice for you, it might be time to consider some lessons. That guitar is extra sweet when it’s played my friend.
