GowallaAre you a Gowalla user? Be on the lookout for virtual Sweet Leaf Tea cans at check-in points around the Austin area. If you find one, you’ll receive redemption information to come trade it in at Sweet Leaf Tea HQ for a real one — happy hunting!

What is Gowalla? It’s a location-based travel game that rewards you for visiting both everyday and extraordinary places, using game mechanics as a motivator to go places, do things and meet friends.

Players use a GPS-enable smartphone (currently available on the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry devices; coming soon for the Palm Pre) to check in at places of interest, share their location with friends, and leave comments about their travels. They are credited for their efforts with a game-like achievement system that rewards visiting both common and unique locations with a variety of iconic stamps.

Check ins and trips can be shared on the web with Facebook, Twitter or via the Gowalla.com website.

Ask anyone who’s ever experienced SXSW and they’ll tell you stories of exhaustion, trials, and tribulations. It’s pure madness. Sometimes makes you wish you could just have the bands come play in your living room, just for you.

For the first time, our good amigos over at WOXY.com have a slew of bands coming through their studio the week of SXSW in Austin,Texas. They’re giving YOU and a friend the chance to sit in on one of their in-studio sessions. That’s right — you and a friend get to meet the band, enjoy some delicious Home Slice Pizza with some refreshing Sweet Leaf Tea, and stick around for the recording session in an über-intimate setting. Just you, the band, and the friendly WOXY.com folks.

After reading about his Bjork experience at ACL in ‘07, it sounds like we all missed quite a show. I can imagine her intense vocals brought a knot to his throat. And I agree that Bjork is much more fierce and much more cute than Hannah Montana. Cheers to inspirational female artists and unforgettable live music experiences.
