It’s no secret that the tea-mates at Sweet Leaf Tea love dogs. And hopefully, it’s also no secret that we are running a super sweet contest right now, aka “Sweet Leaf Sweet Spot“. If you haven’t taken a gander, you should. A year’s supply of tea is at stake. As well as two grand prize VIP trips—one to Lollapalooza and one to Austin City Limits Music Festival. Both include VIP tickets. (If you haven’t done a music festival VIP style, you haven’t lived.)
Ok, back to dogs.
One of the leading entries for the Sweet Leaf Sweet Spot is from Erika and her dog Mac. Seriously, it is one of the cutest pictures I’ve seen in a long while. I’m a sucker for dogs. Especially ones that love Sweet Leaf. But the cuteness, doesn’t end with this picture. Today on Twitter, I was sent a message with a link to this video. Mac, the dog, in action all with a song from Black Keys! It’s almost too much to bare. My heart strings are officially pulled.

Going Green with Granny

Earth Day is Thursday, April 22, and we here at Sweet Leaf Tea want to celebrate with a contest that involves your help in creating a collection of ideas of how we can take care of Mother Earth! Here’s how it works: Submit your ideas of how to take care of Mother Earth via the comments section of this blog post. The best responses will be those that capture the spirit of Earth Day in a creative and fun manner. We will pick one winner everyday begging on April 15 through April 22. Prizes include a Sweet Leaf Tea reusable shopping bag, VIP free tea coupon, lip balm and more! The best answer at the end of the week will also win a 6 pack of their favorite flavor of Sweet Leaf Tea! We’re not allowed to participate (the ONLY downside to working for Granny!) but if I could post a pledge to help take care of Mother Earth it would go a little somethin’ like this… I’ve been known to take some pretty long showers. It can be so warm in there under the running water, and I usually have some music blaring, causing me to sing at the top of my lungs. I have been trying to come up with an effective way to shorten my showers for some time now, but I just can’t discipline myself to do it consistently. But then I thought about it more and realized that in the morning there is only one other thing I love more than a long, hot shower, and that is a perfectly cooked, over easy egg. So, in order to focus on getting in and out of the shower as quickly as possible, I pledge to turn on the stove-top and crack an egg in the frying pan every morning before getting into the shower. In order to enjoy the perfectly cooked egg, I’ll have to be sure to get out in time to flip it before it burns, thus drastically shortening my shower time and water consumption…..OR, maybe I’ll just invest in a low-flow shower head to cut down on my water usage. What is Gowalla? It’s a location-based travel game that rewards you for visiting both everyday and extraordinary places, using game mechanics as a motivator to go places, do things and meet friends.
Players use a GPS-enable smartphone (currently available on the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry devices; coming soon for the Palm Pre) to check in at places of interest, share their location with friends, and leave comments about their travels. They are credited for their efforts with a game-like achievement system that rewards visiting both common and unique locations with a variety of iconic stamps.
