Fresh & Citrusy, My Kind of #TeaSnacky!

Recently while lending a hand at the Lemonade Day Best Tasting Lemonade Contest, I had a chance to enjoy Sweet Leaf Tea’s latest addition to the flavor family – Citrus Green Tea. I instantly fell in love. I’ve been a fan of Sweet Leaf Tea for years and have savored every one of the delicious tea and lemonade varieties. But there is something about this Citrus Green Tea. It rocked my world! In fact I had two of the 16 oz cans that afternoon and have enjoyed a Citrus Green Tea every day since. It’s just so freakin good!
Baby Greens and Sweet Leaf Tea, we go back like babies and pacifiers. When Baby Greens first opened we sold all SLT flavors to our thirsty customers. Being the salad lover that I am, I couldn’t wait to enjoy my fave new drink with my favorite Baby Greens salad – a Southwest salad with Chile Lime dressing. (Yep, I still eat salad every day) It was awesome. It truly made my day.

The SXSW Flavor Demo Experience

Well, SXSW 2010 has come to a close and Austin has returned to its original state. Cars are once again allowed to drive down 6th Street during normal hours of the day, and the sounds of music blaring from bars and clubs downtown is once again most commonly heard only in the night hours. Here at SLT we are all slowly but surely recovering from the fun.
I had the opportunity to work at our tasting stand during the music part of this years SXSW, and let me tell you, it was a pleasure to meet all of you who stopped by to say hi and grab some samples and swag.
All of you who stopped by our stand on 6th and San Marcos last weekend had some great questions and comments about our tea. The question I was asked most frequently however was what my favorite flavor was. You must understand that every time someone asks me this it’s difficult for me to answer. I like all of our flavors (and no, they’re not just paying me to say that!). I love ‘em all, and I think that the best way to find your own favorite is to try them all for yourself and discover the wonderment that is our array of offerings. It’s like picking a favorite flavor of ice cream: impossible, because they are all wonderful!
Now if I HAD to absolutely reveal the tea that I find myself drinking most often on a daily basis, it would be the Mint and Honey Green Tea. It’s cool and refreshing and perfect for our hot Texas days. General consensus from you SXSW taste testers tended to agree that Mint and Honey is a hit, but it’s baby sister Citrus Green Tea ran a close second. I was surprised how many SXSW goers hadn’t tried our new citrus flavor yet, and was happy to be the first to offer you a taste and see the expressions of satisfaction spread across your faces as the first citrus wonderfulness hit your taste buds (think Will Ferrell-style, “it’s so good, when it hits your lips, IT’S SO GOOD!” style responses here people!).
If you didn’t get a chance to visit our tasting stand during SXSW you may have missed out on the fun, but you can still try all of our flavors by heading out to your local grocery and convenience stores and snatching up some of our tea. Both our new Citrus and new Diet Citrus Green Teas are made with a super-secret special blend of fruits. Sure, there’s orange, lemon, and lime. But can you guess what the other flavors are? There’s one particular fruit in the aroma and another that hits your tongue on contact.
Pick up a bottle or can, and let us know what you think the secret flavors are!

Yes, that’s right! Sweet Leaf Tea has just had triplets! No, Granny’s not having babies—she’s just too old for that. (No offense, Granny.)
What I mean is, we’ve just welcomed three new family members to our flavor line-up! Introducing “Lemon Iced Tea,” “Citrus Green Tea,” and “Diet Citrus Green Tea.” Aren’t they cute???

Let me back up. I’m Megan, the Innovation Manager here at Sweet Leaf Tea. And to be honest, I’m usually too buried in spreadsheets to do anything else. (What? We have a blog??) But as it turns out, those spreadsheets told me that we were missing some of the most popular flavors on the market! Thus the birth of Lemon, Citrus, and Diet Citrus.
Citrus Green Tea is already a major hit around here. We brought it into the office on Friday for the first time, and all the cans were immediately drunk, taken home, or stashed in a secret hiding place. (Don’t worry guys—we’ll get more.)
Citrus Green and Lemon Iced Tea come in our new cans too!
