SweetLeafDanny’s Top Pick for ACL!

ACL is ONE WEEK AWAY! OMG! Then, I realized I’ve been so busy prepping that I haven’t written my top pick for the festival. Frantically, I scanned the line-up and LOW-AND-BEHOLD I found them!
I discovered this band at SXSW 3 years ago to the Austinist SXSW party. They were one of the opening bands that played before Kevin Devine (Personal Favorite). So I got there early and starting listening, and they caught my eye right off the bat. One thing that I was super impressed with, was the lead singer (Telekinesis! founder and brainchild, Michael Lerner) plays the drums while singing. It’s AH-mazing. I’ve seen them play SXSW a couple of time now and they have 2 albums and one EP out. They are all top notch records! BONUS they play at the Google + stage on Saturday at 11:45am! See them. It’s a great band to start your day!
This first video is just a live performance of to show you how awesome he is a drumming and singing my (current) favorite song.
These following are just awesome, listen and enjoy.
See you there!!!
Maine’s ACL Show Picks!

Come September 16th, 2011, locals and out of towners will flood our city’s back yard we call Zilker Park. Over the next few weeks it would be best to come up with a game plan to beat the Texas heat and soak in as much live music as possible. Two important words I heard at Lollapalooza earlier this month, “Hydrate while you Dehydrate” – Granny would approve!
Band Picks : Guaranteed to be a great time
Theopolis London : Friday : September 16, 2011 : 12:30pm : Bud Light Stage
I witnessed this guy tear up the stage about 3 times during SXSW 2011, in Austin of course. He mixes funky lyrics/beats with old and new school hip hop. He likes to perform and know how to get the crowd moving.
James Blake : Friday : September 16, 2011 : 3:00pm : Honda Stage
Another new artist I discovered at SXSW earlier this year. All I can say is that you have never heard anything like this before. James Blake stays in constant rotation on my Ipod. Each song delivers new meaning and new sounds. If you are into the soft side of dub-step, this artist will not disappoint.
Hayes Carll : Sunday : September 18, 2011 : 7:30pm : Austin Ventures Stage
Something for the Country/Texas in us all!!!
Stevie Wonder : Saturday : September 17, 2011 : 8:00pm : Bud Light Stage
Last but definitely not least. I grew up listening to Stevie and all of his glory. I remember being little and dancing in the living room while my dad played “Part Time Lover” on the record player.
Somethings never change, I still dance when I hear that song, as if it was the 1st time I heard it.

Did you know that we have 78 Grannyisms in total? If you’ve seen all 78, high-five to you. It takes a lot of Sweet Leaf Tea bottle opening to lay eyes on every single one. Or maybe you’ve spouted off a bit of our own wisdom to friends and family that deserves to be memorialized in a special place. And there’s no where better for that wisdom to live than under a Sweet Leaf Tea cap.
Friends, today is your day to impart some wisdom and take a chance at making others smile every time they read what you created. The best part is, you can WIN BIG just for entering. How to spot a Tea-Slinger
By Charla on May 12 Filed In ACL, Activities, Live Music, Lollapalooza 1 Comment
All of this talk about Free Press Summer Fest, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits has me thinking non-stop about how much fun I have at music festivals with the tea’m. I’m not gonna lie, it’s hard work, but more than anything it’s a blast.
After all the festival chat during the day, I couldn’t help but laugh at myself when I went home and opened my t-shirt drawer. Now, I know I’m not the only Sweet Leaf’er that has a drawer like this. In fact, I’m sure there are a few here at HQ that have me beat. BUT, I’ve got a pretty good collection going and it’s growing at a clip that has some of my friends wondering if I own any t-shirts that don’t show Granny some love. All I know is, when I open my drawer to throw on a TEA-shirt, I get to relive the fun all over again!
Bring on festival season y’all, this tea slinger is ready.
What do you love most about your flavor fave?

Did you know that we have a total of 11 flavors? As of today, Original, Mint & Honey, Peach, Raspberry, Citrus, Lemon, Half & Half (Lemonade Tea), Unsweet Lemon & Lime, Diet Original, Diet Citrus and a classic Lemonade to round it all out. I’m curious if anyone, outside of the tea’m here, has tried them all or if you tend to stick to your favorite one, two or three flavors? Drop me a line below and let me know. I know for some of you, it’s been a little difficult to find all the flavors. Well, we’re working on that. Hang tight!
We have a fun project that our Sweet Leaf Intern, Ty, is working on right now and I thought it would be fun for y’all to get in on the action. Ty is handy with the video camera and is working on a Flavor Series for us. Basically, he’s creating a sweet little video on each of our flavors that tells the story of that flavor or gives personality to it.
For instance, when you think of your favorite flavor what images or activities come to mind?
When I think of our Original, it reminds me of a backyard BBQ with my friends and family. Red and white table cloth, BBQ ribs, cole slaw, watermelon and lots of good sweet tea.
Mint & Honey, now that’s a different story. For me, it’s a trip back in time to my first Austin City Limits. Dust, crowds, sweaty hot, dancing, rockin’ out and keeping hydrated with that ice cold, minty fresh green tea. Just thinking about it is getting me PUMPED for this year which is the 10th anniversary!

So that’s a few of my memories, I have more for the other flavors, but I’d really like to hear from you about your memories or thoughts with your favorite flavor. Tell me a story below by next Monday (April 18th) and I’ll pick some of my faves to receive some special Sweet Leaf Tea goodies.
You might just inspire our next video!
