We love meeting Sweet Leaf fans

We love meeting Sweet Leaf fans

Lollapalooza was HOT! Congratulations to those eager texters that texted to win passes good for 10 free bottles of Sweet Leaf Tea during the festival. We also hid a few passes throughout Grant Park for our more observant fans. Sweet Leaf Tea wants to make sure you stay cool and refreshed and happy at these festivals. Let us know if we’ve enhanced YOUR festival experience. See you at ACL!

I just got back from the Rio Grande Valley where we kicked off our new Bud distributor, L&F. We opened dozens of new accounts and the peeps in McAllen, Harlingen and surrounding areas are jazzed about Sweet Leaf.  Trust me, they need the refreshment down there!! With temps soaring over 105 almost every day I drank a tea every hour.
Here are a few things I now love about the Valley:

  • The REAL Mexican food- I put jalapenos on everything and so do they. And the grapefruits were humongous. Yum!
  • I was able to practice my Spanglish without too many laughs.
  • How often do you see wild horses, goats and dogs on a buisness trip?
  • The people are genuine.
  • Border patrol agents are no joke. Big guys, big guns, no funny business- they work hard to keep us safe. God bless!
  • Sweet Leaf Tea is made in the Valley and we are as proud of this fact as the folks that live there.

We love you South Texas! See you next week in Corpus Christi.

Every year, folks ask me some tips for survival when embarking upon the experience that is Lollapalooza.  Allegedly I’m some kind of festival expert, so here’s my unofficial Survival Guide to Lollapalooza, listed in no particular order:

  • Plan your schedule wisely. If you have an eclectic taste in music like me, you’ll probably find yourself flustered when attempting to plan your schedule because so many great bands are playing back-to-back (or at the same time) on opposite ends of the park.  Keep in mind that Grant Park is HUGE, and unless you have wings, it is near impossible to see EVERY band on your list.  As such, remember that its nearly a mile’s walk to get between the two main stages, not to mention the thousands of other festival goers congesting the walkways.  Pace yourself, and plan wisely.
  • Choose comfort over fashion. I’m not implying that you come to Lolla dressing like a slob, but it astounds me to see ladies traversing the festival grounds in heels and skirts.  Are you kidding?  You’re going to do a LOT of walking unless all the bands you want to see are conveniently at the same stage.  Flip flops or sneakers are king.
  • Remember to hydrate. Sure, you’re at a music festival — you’re probably going to want to do your fair share of drinking.  Unless you want to be ‘that guy’ passed out face-down in the grass during the headlining acts and/or escorted out by security, remember to drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids as well (Sweet Leaf Tea, baby!).  As a rule of thumb, I find it better to hold off on the heavy drinking until the sun comes down.  Sun + heavy drinking = hot mess.
  • Come up with a contingency plan. Cell phone towers always get backed up during Lolla, and you can hardly rely on your cell phone as a means of communication.  Lest you’re versed in the art of sending smoke signals, designate a good meeting spot in case your group gets separated.  Or you could get some of those child leashes to keep tabs on your friends.  However, do remember to charge your phone up to max before you head to the fest.
Please, keep your friends on a leash.

Please, keep your friends on a leash.

  • Wear sunscreen.  Bring extra. Unless you enjoy looking like a lobster.  It’s all up to you.

    Ouch.

    Ouch.

  • Take photos. Way too many photo opportunities not to.  Plus, you could probably use a reminder of how much fun you had when it’s all over.  Besides, Facebook is a great way to make all your friends that aren’t going jealous.
  • Bring plenty of cash.  You’re going to spend money, so make sure you have enough on you.  There are ATM’s on-site, but the service fees are always stupid high.  That’s how they make their money though — banking off your poor planning.
  • Pack lightly. This isn’t an expedition, so don’t bring your whole life with you.  If you bring a giant bag or purse, you’re likely to forget about it at some point and lose it.  Plus, you have to deal with the extra time waiting in line to get your bag screened.  Just bring a small pack with only the essentials — wallet, camera, sunscreen, water, maybe a blanket.
  • Have fun. There’s plenty to do in between bands, so make sure you spend some time checking out the other areas in between.  Plenty of free, useful stuff to be had, you just have to go find it.  Also, every now and then, stand still and just take it all in.  There’s so much going on around you, it’s nice to take a moment to appreciate the place you’re in and the people you’re with.  That’s why they call it an ‘experience’.

Howdy to all and Happy Halloween!

I am new to the office here in Austin, as the Consumer Services Manager/Receptionist/Awesome-All-Around-Girl-Friday and thought I’d share a little about my first (EVER) experience drinking the Mint & Honey Sweet Tea. My first thought was, “OHMYGAWD! It’s freaking awesome.” My next thoughts were around how I should share my thoughts with all of you; so here I am.

I came to Sweet Leaf Tea after almost 5 years at Whole Foods Market. Due to what I learned at Whole Foods Market in regards to eating natural foods, I have been working towards a full life-style change. With a lot of hard work, I went from almost 300 lbs a little over a year ago to hovering just over 200 lbs. I have a lot of hard work ahead of me but I am confident that I can achieve my goal. I have been a Coke and iced tea fan my whole life but since this change, I have limited my caffeine intake and my sugar intake. I do not sweeten my tea, so that part is easy, but getting off the Cokes was a challenge. To be honest, I do still indulge in Mexican Cokes (they contain real cane sugar-like our teas, instead of high fructose corn syrup) a couple of times a month but I can drink iced tea any time just to get a bit of a punch without any sugar. I have tried many of the Sweet Leaf Teas in my time and have clung to the Lemon & Lime Unsweet Tea.

After asking folks on Twitter yesterday to tell us what their favorite flavor was, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and try the Mint & Honey. This brings me back to posting on The Sip. WOW! Who knew a bottled tea could be this incredible? I surely didn’t! I think because it’s Halloween and I am feeling in the spirit of things (as one of the ONLY folks in the office dressed up today) that I will enjoy the whole 120 calories (60 calories per 8 oz serving) today rather than letting my guilt, er life-style change force me to just smile and drink the Lemon & Lime Unsweet Tea. I want to be clear that I LOVE the Lemon & Lime Unsweet Tea, too.

The inside of my lid says, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you”, and I am inclined to think that statement is insanely accurate this day and age. I am proud of this hand that is feeding my family and me and I am proud of the products we create. We create smiles! Like the huge one plastered on my face right now thanks to Mint & Honey Sweet Tea!
