As you know, during SXSW 2011 we offered up a chance to win a ton of prizes for checking in on Gowalla during the festival.  Our GRAND PRIZE was a backyard BBQ party for a lucky winner and 20 of the winner’s friends!  When we found out that the Grand Prize winner was here in Austin, we grabbed the Salt Lick BBQ, some Sweet Leaf Tea, and surprised the winner at her house!  Check this out!

After we dropped off the goods, we gave Jessica 2 cameras to capture the party!  Check out the photos below, I’m jealous that I didn’t get invited!  Congrats Jessica!

If your part of the country is getting rain, congrats. We’re a little dry down here in Texas which unfortunately means that we don’t have the usual wildflower lined fields we’re accustomed to at this time of year. Sadly, I haven’t seen but maybe one bluebonnet. I know several parents and grandparent were upset when there were no bluebonnet fields to take family photos in this Easter.

Nevertheless, whether you get to pick them from a field or you have to buy them from the store, flowers are a necessity for Spring. Maybe I’m old school in this regard, but nothing puts a smile on my face faster than a vase of beautiful flowers. Well, except for maybe these great pictures we received from Angela and her daughter Nia. The mom and daughter duo separated colorful jellybeans into Sweet Leaf Tea bottles and then put in some beautiful flowers to top it off. Great way to reuse packaging!

And, seeing that Mother’s Day is just around the corner, there’s no time like the present to MAKE a little homemade gift for mom. Make Mom’s Day extra sweet by leaving a few full bottles of her favorite Sweet Leaf Tea flavor in the fridge to drink! Angela says Original and Mint & Honey are her two favorite flavors.

If you have a fun project reusing our packaging, be sure to send us an email at consumers@sweetleaftea.com or post to our facebook page. Granny gets a kick out of creativity!

The Lollapalooza line up is here!!!!!  And the @SweetLeafTea’m is SUPER excited!  20 years and still going strong.  Now that you know the bands, you can contemplate what tea to pair with your show/experience!

Will you drink a Mint and Honey and watch Coldplay, or grab a Raspberry and check out Eminem?

What about our Citrus green tea and Beirut, or Lemon Iced tea and Ratatat?

Or maybe an Original for Foo Fighters, or Peach with Cee Lo Green?

The choice is yours!  Stay tuned….we’ll have the team back on the blog for Sweet Beats and Eats, where we tell you our top pick on Lolla bands and best places to grub while in the city that made Michael Jordan famous!

Plus, we’ll be giving away some passes for you and a friend to make it out and experience the magic that is Lollapalooza!  Some good things are brewing.  Line up is below!

Easter back in the day. Sweet Leaf Danny on the far right.

If you have been keeping up with the blog and checked out my “Easter for Adults! [and kids too]” Blog, then this is a treat for you! Easter came and went and fun times were had by all! [especially me]  I ate tons of great food, found $30 in the Adult easter egg hunt, and won the family egg toss for the 8th year in a row with my cousin JT!  It was a blast.  I even got a rack of ribs from my Paw-paw to take back to Austin. [drooollll....]  Check out some of the photos below from the weekend’s festivities!  I hope your Easter was just as great!

I wonder how many people will open up a bottle of Sweet Leaf Tea this Friday to find “Be Gentle with the Earth” under the cap? If it were up to me, I’d wiggle my nose and make every cap have this Grannyism tomorrow as I can’t imagine a more appropriate theme for Earth Day. But unfortunately, even after years of working on my nose wiggle, I’m no Samantha. I’ll have to leave this turn of the cap to fate and hope that at least a few unsuspecting tea fans will get surprised by such a fortuitous find.

All magic wiggle nose kidding aside, maybe it’s better that Grannyism #58 has the chance of popping up any old day of the week. It’s like spreading the good vibes across the year instead of focusing it all on one day. Or, my personal favorite, it’s kind of like taking a birthday week instead of a birthday. In reality, it could mean that someone, somewhere every day is getting a subtle reminder that Mother Earth is worth celebrating, protecting and thinking about regardless if it’s Earth Day or Tuesday. And if each of those people, do a little something green each time they flip a cap, like recycling the bottle, then that can only equal good things in my book, right?

I must admit that almost every cap with a bit o’ wisdom from Granny makes me smile. But, there is something special and pure about getting this cap. I’m going to make it my personal challenge that every time I see this cap, I’m going to go the extra green mile in the name of keeping the world a beautiful place. So, who’s with me?

If you’re thinking you’d like to get in on a little green action, but don’t know where to start check out these Green Tips from Granny. Granny is very wise when it comes to these things.

IF by chance you happen to untwist a bottle of homemade goodness with Grannyism #58 on Earth Day (Friday, April 22, 2011), be sure to shoot me a picture and a green deed you performed that day here or post it to our Facebook page here. I’ll be sending a little goody to ya just for being so darn lucky. Bonus points if it’s a green tea!
