Granny hits PDX!

Earlier this month, I took a little weekend trip to my former home of Oregon to visit friends in PDX and hit the slopes at Mt. Bachelor in Bend. It was a quick trip, but I had just enough time to get in most of the things that I love about the area including: Stumptown, Pinot Noir, Tuk Tuk, Deschutes Black Butte Porter, tall snowy trees, steel bridges….Really, I could keep going. It’s not quite like Portlandia, but then again it kind of is.
I have a lot of friends in the Portland area that have seen me posting, tweeting and such about Sweet Leaf Tea. Some of them have seen the brand at boutique deli’s and such, but many have told me that they have never even seen it (gasp!).
Well, that’s all changing now! I’m proud to report that Granny has officially made her way all the way up to the Pacific Northwest. While loading up for the ski trip at Fred Meyer, I happened to see a full stocked shelf of Sweet Leaf Tea in the natural section.
I also stopped into a new local pub called Breakside Brewery (delish waffle fries with blue cheese!) and saw that they carried Sweet Leaf Tea.
Who can resist Elephant Deli’s delicious Tomato Orange Soup? Not me. Especially with a Sweet Tea to balance the meal.
Although I didn’t get to visit the home of the Trailblazers this trip (I miss watching LaMarcus Aldridge-Hook’em!), I know for a fact that you can now pick up a Sweet Leaf Tea in the Rose Garden to keep that throat of yours from going dry amongst all the cheering.
So, there it is friends. Granny is on the way to your hood. If you find one, pick it up and give it a go. Be sure to let me know what you think. Mint & Honey is my personal favorite.
Congratulations to Midnight Riot!

Well music fans,
The My Band Rocks Fox Battle of the Bands has come to a close! Wednesday night, Dead Swagger battled it out with Midnight Riot for the win, and boy was it a good show. Dead Swagger took the stage first, and blew the crowd away with their old-school tone and super swanky style. Next up was Midnight Riot, who performed like rock gods and melted faces with some serious rockin’. Check out the video!
After some deliberation, the judges made a call, and announced the winner on Fox at 9. I imagine it was a pretty tough decision to make, cause both bands really performed well and were really in their element at the Gibson Showroom. But when it came down to it, Midnight Riot took the win.
We were happy to support Austin’s young musicians! We look forward to rocking out with you guys at SXSW!

My Band Rocks Fox Battle of the Bands

This Wednesday (the 23rd) is the final showdown between the two finalists of the My Band Rocks Fox Battle of the Bands, and we here at Sweet Leaf are super excited! In case you haven’t been keeping up, the My Band Rocks contest features bands with members 21 or under and wants to showcase some local Austin talent. Check out their Facebook page here. The two bands will be performing live at the Gibson showroom right here at Penn Field, next to our offices!
The two finalists are local bands Dead Swagger and Midnight Riot. Dead swagger is a three piece rock-noir group who brings back an old sound with a new twist. Midnight Riot, a five-piece alternative group, also from Austin, has a classic rock tone with a modern edge. Up for grabs in this contest is some pretty great stuff. The winning band will be getting some SXSW exposure from BMI, as well as an opportunity for some studio time.
I’ll be there getting some exclusive video content of the performances as well as some interviews with the bands which will be featured on Sweet Leaf TV. And if you can’t make it, the show will be televised on MyFoxAustin, and be sure to keep an eye out for some Sweet Leaf on the air! The doors open at 5:30, so if you want to see some young Austin talent stop by and enjoy some Sweet Leaf and music.

Hello all,
@SweetLeafIntern here. As you all know from @SweetLeafDanny‘s blog post on Monday, we had a pretty rockin’ party for Valentines Day here at the Sweet Leaf headquarters to kick off the weekend. We had a contest to guess pictures of the employees as kids, and a valentine’s bag design contest. Not to mention a delicious Sweet Leaf/@TitosVodka mix and some really delicious food. Anyway, when I wasn’t enjoying the food, drink, and company, I shot some video of our little shindig. Check it out!
