Don’t Miss Mother Falcon!

Hello Lovers of Sweet Leaf Tea!
I’m writing you as a fellow fan of Sweet Leaf. My name is Zoe, and I am friends with the tea goddess April. Thanks to April, I’m doing a guest post (and writing while sippin on a SLT Half-n-Half; my personal second favorite SLT) and I wanted to write to ya’ll about a show goin’ down tomorrow at The Parish.
The show is an end-of-summer bash with orchestral indie rockers Mother Falcon. If their name sounds familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen them gigging around town, or perhaps you saw them on the cover of the Austin Chronicle a few weeks ago. I don’t like to hype bands much—no one will know what the future brings—but I feel pretty confident making the prediction that these guys will be the Austin breakout band of the year. The buzz they are getting is well deserved; if the phrase orchestral indie rock boggles the mind, then give them a listen. With gorgeous melodies and full, lush, arrangements, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the rhythm and float away on a cloud of musical bliss. Not to say the openers aren’t equally fantastic; Battle Bend and Little Lo are opening for Mother Falcon and both are along the same beautiful lines, although slightly more stripped down. Little Lo is sonically reminiscent of a perfect, lazy Austin afternoon—yea, I’m not entirely sure what that means either, but that’s what I think of when I listen to them—see if our ideas of perfect afternoons are the same. Battle Bend is folky rocky fun; it’s come and gone as many different groups and ideas, but always anchored by fantastic songwriter Andrew Stevens.
So, you may be wondering, how is this show relevant to your tea-sippin lifestyle? Well, Sweet Leaf does happen to have the rockin-est fans around—so it seems natural ya’ll might wanna check this out. And I have it on good authority that Mother Falcon are big fans of Sweet Leaf Peach Tea, so you’ll be among fellow fans. I’m hoping to see some of you at the show; it’s tomorrow night (Aug. 19th) at The Parish, doors are at 7 and Little Lo kicks it off at 8. The cover is $8, and money made from the show will go to help record a Mother Falcon full length! Now that’s sweet (leaf)!
Your comrade in SLT arms,
Zoe

@SweetLeafDanny’s Lolla Favs: Matt and Kim!

Once again. I was headed to check up on the tea in VIP, then I realized Matt and Kim were playing at the Adidas MEGA stage. So, I dropped in and caught a great set! I got to hear the majority of the songs from the “Grand” album, as well as a cover of “Just a friend”. Then, Kim jumped off stage and stood on the hands of the crows and booty danced, while Matt climbed the stage and swung from the top rung of the scaffolding. AWESOME! Check out this video I took of “Lightspeed”, as well as a video of the “Just a Friend” cover!

@SweetLeafDanny’s Lolla Favs: Chromeo

I never saw Chromeo before, but I knew a little bit about their music, and after seeing them at Lolla I am set for LYFE. These 2 guys know how to make the crowd move. They have tons of stage presence, and a great sound to back it up. Top two tracks: Bonafide Loving and Night by Night. I have been listening to them non-stop since I got back. Check these songs out and let me know what you think!

@SweetLeafDanny’s Lolla Favs: Minus the Bear!

I’m BAAACCCCKKKKAAAAA!
Lollapalooza was a whirlwind to say the least. It was a week filled with working hard, listening to bands, eating some delish grub, seeing some sights, and hustling. Everyday. Hustling.
From getting into Chicago on Tuesday night, to flying out on the following Monday a lot of good times were had! When I wasn’t slinging tea (80% of my time), I was watching bands or sleeping. This coming week you will be able to read about my favorite band experiences I had at #Lolla!
Minus the Bear!
You knew this was coming, and how couldn’t you! They are amazing! @SweetLeafCharla, Jermaine, and I prepped to launch some balloons for this show, but the wind took all of them behind the stage…(dang), but as I was getting set to take some photos of the balloons, I found myself in the photo pit! (the area RIGHT in front of the stage So of course I took some photos of my favorite band up close and personal. SEE BELOW:
Then I bounced on stage to finish out the rest of the set. Words can’t describe how awesome it was. Rocking out to my favorite band onstage. I also turned @SweetLeafCharla on to them as well. She loved the set.
After the show I ran into a chick from Dangerbird Records (their label) and talked about possibly hooking them up with some tea, then I high fived Dave Knudson (the Guitarist) and told him how great the show was…. I am most passed out! AH-mazing.
Favorite Song from the set: Hold Me Down <== click to listen.
Check back this coming week for more of my experiences at Lolla!
@SweetLeafDanny — Signing off.
And We Love You, ALFIE!

All of the Sweet Leaf Tea Marketing Tea’m has the Google Blog Searches come directly to our email, so we know what (if anything) is being said about our brand in the blogosphere. Often the searches do their job by grabbing key words like, “sweet”, “leaf”, “tea” and everything in between, but sadly, it’s not always about us.
Recently though, we had search results that ended with us finding “Coffee and Stilettos” by the amazingly passionate, ALFIE (aka, Ashley). This girl is totally down with professing her love to Granny and we are happy to accept the love! (I mean, who doesn’t love Mint & Honey Green Tea?)
We think Ashley’s kind words and awesome photographs make her a winner in our book and we hope that all of you enjoy her posts too!
Update: Today our friend posted a beautiful picture of a bottle of Half & Half. It’s simple, pretty, and makes me so in love with summertime that I wanna run out of work and straight to Barton Springs for some swimming. But not before I drink some ice tea!
