If you missed yesterday’s post, I announced that today the lemons of the world shall be celebrated as it is officially National Lemonade Day. Now, if you’re the type that feels you don’t need no stinkin’ holiday to enjoy a cold glass of lemonade, carry on with your routine without unnecessary celebration. However, if the thought of a winning a case of Sweet Leaf’s Organic Lemonade makes you change your mind, it’s time to get in the spirit of things and join the rest of us who enjoy any excuse to make a day an ode to something bizarre.

So, here’s the skinny. The way we look at it, lemonade was meant to be shared. It’s hard to make just one delicious glass of lemonade, it’s better when there’s a lot so that it can be shared with your amigos, family, neighbor, and everyone on the block. And if you intrigue us enough by answering one simple question, you’ll get a case to share and share alike. Here goes…

“If you could invite anyone or any character in the world to your front porch to share a pitcher of lemonade, who would it be?”

Add your answer in the comment section by the end of day Monday and we’ll pick a winner or two to win a case of Sweet Leaf Organic Lemonade.

Happy lip-puckering lemonade day!

I’d share my Sweet Leaf lemonade with the first group of people that I met – people hot and tired from walking on the street, people exhausted from working in the sun. I’d try to be inclusive of everyone as I shared my lemonade, because face it, it’s so refeshing that it puts a smile on anyone’s face.

So whether it’s the hard-working mom with the stroller full of kids at the store, the guy on the street asking for spare change, the musician sharing his talent with passers-by, or one of my best friends, I know none of them would be able to resist a cold glass of lemonade and a warm smile in this summer heat.

And, I’m pretty sure that sharing with the those around me would make my own glass of lemonade even sweeter. Forget the whole “I’d like to give the world a Coke” thing – to refresh and inspire and make the world a better place, the best idea is to share a Sweet Leaf lemonade!

    Forrest Gump :)

On this hot summer day, I’d love to share a pitcher of lemonade w/ Ryne Sandberg. We’d have some serious Cubs business to discuss (please coach our team Ryne!!!) Our lemonade would only make the experience even sweeter.

I would love to share a pitcher of Good Ol Fashion lemonade with Master Yoda. There is no better liquid to share wisdom over than lemonade and there is no one wiser than he.

I can see it now, he in a rockin chair me on the steps. “Good lemonade is this” he would say, little green hairy feet dangeling. Ooooo Yea. Yoda for sure.

Mark Twain would be my pick. I live in Louisiana, where we’ve had a few calamities that have been made worse by politics and politicians. I’d love to hear his take on hurricane response, oil spills, and his opinion of our intrepid governor. I think it would be a very enlightening experience! Tall, slick, cold glasses of lemonade would be the perfect compliment to that scorching wit.

There was just something about the combination of the front porch and the lemonade that really leaves me with one answer: Mark Twain.

First, I think he’d really appreciate the cold beverage, but more importantly, in spite of all his brilliant snarkiness, he was a very thoughtful man and a bit of a raconteur, so I think an afternoon on the porch filled with snappy banter and meaningful discussions with Mr. Clemens would be one well spent and well enjoyed. And I think I’d make sure I had some cold fried chicken on hand (which would also be great washed down with cold lemonade), after we’d worked up an appetite from all that talking!

I’d want to meet my grandma. :) She died years before I was born. I’d ask her where she’s from, get her to tell me stories, and ask her about my mom and her siblings growing up. If this were to actually happen, I probably wouldn’t even be able to speak. My mind would be blank. We would just sit there drinking lemonade.

I’d share my lemonade with my son, Richard, and his unit. He’s Army 82nd Airborne deployed to Afghanistan right now and I can’t imagine a better group of people more deserving of an ice cold delicious Sweet Leaf! HOOAH!

I would share my lemonade with my grandmother, who passed away 9 years ago.
She used to love to sit outside and drink tea and lemonade and enjoy the view of the mountains here in Vegas in the early parts of the day, before it gets too hot.
I’d like to think that if I could share it with ANYONE it would be her…and we would sit and sip on our lemonade and talk about music and movies and play games that we made up like we used to. Drinking Sweet Leaf Tea Lemonade would make the occasion even more special.

I asked my 3 year old who he would share with and he said “LEMONS Mommy!” Of course… haha

  • Danga Rach said: August 20th, 2010 10:54 am

I would share with Mark Twain. It just seems like the perfect time and place. Imagine the stories he would tell while swinging on a porch swing, sipping ice cold lemonade. Would be wonderful. =)

If I were to share a pitcher of lemonade on my front porch, it would have to be someone quite entertaining to distract me from this Austin summer heat.

My pick would be Mark Twain, who I am quite sure would be well-equipped to sit with me on my front porch swing, with a delicious glass of lemonade in one hand and his pipe in the other, and spin yarns until the cows came home. Now THAT’s my idea of an ideal lemonade companion.

I’d have a glass of lemonade with Bayer from the office. Thank puppy would be great to drink lemonade with!

  • Chandler said: August 20th, 2010 11:24 am

I’d like to share a pitcher of lemonade with Lee Harvey Oswald and clear up a few things.

But Forrest Gump, he’s quite a fellow to share some lemonade with.

  • JT said: August 20th, 2010 12:00 pm

    My wife, of course! :)

My children are very active and like to participate in sports. THey like to ride their bicycles. Sometimes you do not see many children outside because it is too hot to be outside. I sometimes think they probably do want to go outside and play with their friends but need a way to cool off. In addition to swimming, there is of course, ice cold lemonade!! I would encourage my children to share ice cold lemonade with their friends in the shade. On a hot, summer’s day there is nothing better.

I think I’d want to sit down with Mae West and pick her brain (and hear her stories). She lived her “brand” long before Madonna and Lady Gaga.

  • Kelly said: August 20th, 2010 1:12 pm

I would probably share my pitcher with my mom, who I do not get to hang out with enough!

  • Danielle said: August 20th, 2010 1:55 pm

I would like to share a pitcher of lemonade with an out-of-town friend….what better way to catch up?! :)

  • Rosemary said: August 20th, 2010 4:39 pm

I’d share of pitcher of lemonade with my Dad and have him tell me stories about his courtship of my Mom. I love those stories! Warms the heart.

  • Rachel said: August 20th, 2010 9:37 pm

hmm….For a real life person, I’d choose my grandad. He passed away when I was three and I never got to know him. I’ve heard lots of stories about him, but I’d love to hear them from his point of view.

For a character, I’d go with Phineas and Ferb (Disney Channel). We could drink lemonade and then go build some crazy stuff in the backyard – with no fear of getting busted!

  • Elizabeth said: August 20th, 2010 10:24 pm

I would invite my sisters and my mom. After my mom passed away when I was 18, my 3 sisters and I do not get together more than once every 1-2 years with our busy adult lives. We call regularly but it’s not the same. A pitcher of lemonade would invite stories I’ve never heard that only my mother would know– my parents courtship, my first words, her expectations for my sisters and I. It would whet our whistles for some four-part harmonies again, me in the middle! And it would bring back days when we really did used to sit on our blue-roofed porch, decked by morning glories and hammocks, sipping on cool sunshine and laughing at nothing. A lemonade vacation…

My family and friends. Who better to share lemonade with than the ones you love?

  • Crystal Grose said: August 21st, 2010 1:36 pm

If I could share a pitcher of lemonade on my front porch with anyone, it would definitely be the creators of Sweet Leaf Sweet Tea. Nothing goes better with an ice cold pitcher of lemonade than drinking it with Clayton and David.

I would LOVE to share a pitcher of lemonade with the Granny that inspired it – “Mimi”. I don’t know if the “Grannyisms” that appear on the bottle caps are actual sayings of hers or not, but every tidbit of information I see seems to suggest that she was a very fun, very spunky woman, and someone I could learn a lot from. And, she obviously knew how to make some good tea…getting that recipe from her wouldn’t hurt :)

I’d invite Jimmy Hoffa and ask him where he’s been all these years. I’m sure it would be a hoot of a story…

Albus Dumbledore!!! out of this world lemonade with a wizard :p

Thanks to everyone that left a comment! We enjoyed reading about your guest of honor for an afternoon of lemonade sippin. After much deliberation and consideration, we’re going to go with Mary Capps. We loved the idea of Mr. Twain and your words painted a nice little picture for us. Especially with the addition of the cold chicken! Way to tell it. I’ll be in touch soon! @SweetLeafCharla
