Have plans for National Lemonade Day?

If you’re a lemonade connoisseur of sorts, or if you just really enjoy a cold, lip-puckering glass of tart sweetness, Friday is your lucky day. As it turns out, this Friday, August 20th is National Lemonade Day. You might be saying, “Really? National Lemonade Day?” And all I can say in response is, if there’s a National Talk Like a Pirate Day (September 19th), why can’t lemonade have its day in the National spotlight of celebrated days?
We happen to like lemonade around here and although it may not get all the attention our teas do, it’s still in our rotation. This year we even gave lemonade a little more love by participating in National Lemonade Stand Day. We “sweetened” the stand of our Most Creative Lemonade Flavor winner, Alesha. You should definitely consider her concoction, Brazilian Lemonade, to take your lemonade drinking to the next level tomorrow.
While there are countless lemonade recipes to choose from, we have a couple of other fun recipes to add to the mix:
Strawberry Lemonade Chiller (nonalcoholic):
- 1/2 cup of fresh strawberries
- 1 cup of ice
- 1 bottle of Sweet Leaf Tea Organic Original Lemonade
Cut strawberries into pieces. Combine lemonade and strawberries in a blender and blend until most of the pieces have been liquefied. Add ice and blend to your liking. For an extra kick, top the drink off with a sprig of mint.
Or spice it up a bit with this number:
Ginger Shandy (alcoholic or nonalcoholic):
- 1 bottle of ginger beer
- 1/2 a cup of gin
- 1 cup of Sweet Leaf Tea Organic Original Lemonade
Mix ingredients and serve chilled in a pint glass. Garnish beverage with a slice of lemon. For the nonalcoholic version mix all ingredients except the gin.
While either of these are sure to elicit a satisfying “ahhhh” upon first sip, for those who may not have the time to mix their own beverage you can always pick up a bottle made by Granny to enjoy.
Tune in tomorrow to find out how you can win a case of Sweet Leaf Tea Lemonade!

I hope this is the right section. Now, as to who I would invite for a glass of lemonade…
Dang! I’m such a geek, and would want to invite crazy book and game characters from my favorite storylines. Or perhaps their authors…
Ok, Dr. Watson from the Sherlock Holmes stories. He seems a genial and intelligent man who would be happy to reminisce and speak of his grand adventures with Mr. Holmes, and we’d even be free to comment on Holmes’ character, and analyze it. I love doing that! Meeting the super sleuth himself would be cool, but I’m not sure I could tolerate his abrasive and too honest manner for long, lol! Yes, Good ol’ Watson would be perfect!
