Zoe's Sweet Spot Pic
While perusing all of the Sweet Leaf Sweet Spot picture submissions, as we often do, we came across a pretty nifty one of a Sweet Leaf Tea bottle transformed into a candle. Sustainability is always a focus here at Sweet Leaf, and we are constantly looking for new ways to transform our bottles, cans, lids and labels into something new and interesting and something that isn’t going to be thrown away. This candle idea is a prime example, so we contacted the candlemaker, Zoe from San Antonio, to ask how she did it. It turns out that Zoe and her boyfriend Danny have been converting used Sweet Leaf bottles into candles for quite some time now. They gave us some directions so we–and anyone else reading this–can make Sweet Leaf candles of our own. Take it away, Zoe and Danny!
Step 1: Purchase any delicious flavor of Sweet Leaf ice tea found in a glass bottle, a plastic funnel, a small bread pan, tin foil, a candle wick, and any scented candle.
Step 2: Preset your oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 3: Cover your small bread pan with tin foil and place the candle into the pan and then place the pan into the preheated oven.
Step 4: Set the oven timer for 20 minutes and while waiting for the wax to melt open and enjoy your Sweet Leaf ice tea until it unfortunately runs out.
Step 5: After the 20 minutes have expired remove the bread pan from the oven carefully with oven mitts.
Step 6: Place and position your candle wick into the empty Sweet Leaf bottle.
Step 7: Place the plastic funnel into the empty glass bottle and carefully pour your melted wax into the funnel.
Step 8: Now simply wait for your wax to cool and in only a few steps you’ve made your very own “sweet” candle!
Step 9: Drink another delicious Sweet Leaf tea to celebrate your pretty SWEET accomplishment.
Thanks, Zoe and Danny!
If anyone else has done anything cool with their leftover Sweet Leaf materials, let us know! We’d love to share it with everyone! Also don’t forget to submit your pic to the
Sweet Leaf Sweet Spot contest page. You could still win a year’s supply of tea or a VIP trip for two to

Excellent way to reuse an item and turn it into another useful item. How about using the bottles as a vase?
