Yep, you read that right.  It’s not “iced tea”…it’s a “tea ice,” a deliciously refreshing dessert for summertime.  This dessert is a Sweet Leaf take on the traditional Mexican “hielo,” which is usually made by blending juice or fruit puree with sugar and water, and then freezing it into a slushee-type consistency.  Best part is, using Sweet Leaf Tea makes it super-easy!  Here’s how it’s made:

Ingredients:

-1 bottle Citrus Green Sweet Leaf Tea (16 or 20oz)

-Zest and juice of 1 lime

-Optional:  1 shot liquor (rum, tequila, triple sec, etc)

Pour all ingredients into large, non-reactive dish or pan that will fit in your freezer.  I used a 9×12 ceramic baking dish.  Glass and stainless steel work too.  Liquid should form a thin layer.

Cover with plastic wrap and place in freezer.  Each hour for 2-3 hours, remove from freezer and stir/scrape with a fork.  Then let freeze another 2-3 hours.  At the end, you should have a deliciously refreshing summer dessert that looks like a sno-cone and tastes like Granny’s homemade goodness.  Enjoy!
