Are you a Gowalla user? Be on the lookout for virtual Sweet Leaf Tea cans at check-in points around the Austin area. If you find one, you’ll receive redemption information to come trade it in at Sweet Leaf Tea HQ for a real one — happy hunting!
What is Gowalla? It’s a location-based travel game that rewards you for visiting both everyday and extraordinary places, using game mechanics as a motivator to go places, do things and meet friends.
Players use a GPS-enable smartphone (currently available on the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry devices; coming soon for the Palm Pre) to check in at places of interest, share their location with friends, and leave comments about their travels. They are credited for their efforts with a game-like achievement system that rewards visiting both common and unique locations with a variety of iconic stamps.
Check ins and trips can be shared on the web with Facebook, Twitter or via the Gowalla.com website.
