Hey there – I’m the Innovation Manager here at Sweet Leaf Tea. And I taste a lot of competitor’s products each month just to see what other companies are up to. Truth is, a lot of diets out there have a nasty aftertaste. When I taste diets, I usually try to do it next to the sink, so I can spit that puppy out if it’s really bad. Not trying to be snooty here, but they just don’t hold a candle to our diets!
So when I first tasted our new Diet Citrus Green Tea, I knew it was one of the family. The only aftertaste it leaves is tangy citrusy goodness. It’s just down-right refreshing, for your tongue and your waistline!
Shun the non-believer! Shunnnnnnnn

Ever seen Charlie the Unicorn?
This ‘shunnn’ mentality echoed in my mind after my first Sweet Leaf Tea demo this week at the grand opening of Newflower Farmers Market in Bee Cave, where my intern-buddy Jessie and I found ourselves demo-ing against rival tea makers, as well as proving to the Sweet Leaf Tea newcomers that SLT really is a better bottled tea compared to the other bottled teas with the bad ingredients and even worse taste they had previously sworn off. Luckily, I never had to actually shun any one of our testers, as Jessie and I, along with our brand ambassador Jackie, successfully converted all those non-believers to the delicious taste of all-natural Sweet Leaf Tea. Jessie and I learned that projecting our passion for the brand onto others is joyful and rewarding, especially when the kids come back for seconds and thirds with their parents who love it even more!
Even though it was a cold, rainy day with occasional sleet, getting out of the office and into the store was a fantastic experience. I loved interacting with all of the customers, as well as dancing to my favorite oldies music being played on speakers overhead. Jessie loved handing out all of the Sweet Leaf Tea swag to the kids (tattoos, stickers and buttons, oh my!), and my favorite part was bartering the very popular samples of tea for the other store samples to make an interesting combination for lunch. My first demo was a success, Sweet Leaf Tea FTW!
MAKE: One good guess and the rest is history

Last week in “The GULP” we offered some of our most devoted fans a chance to win a 6 pack of their favorite tea. All they had to do was have the closest bid on how much loot was in the bottle of Sweet Leaf Tea pictured below without going over. Remind you of anybody in particular? Before reading further, what’s your best guess?
After pouring through several emails, I’m proud to announce that the lucky winner coming in at just $38.36 is none other than Shawn T. of Denver, Colorado. Yep, Shawn’s expecting a 6 pack of his favorite flavor Original in the next couple of days. So, how close was he? Well, that 16oz. glass Sweet Leaf Tea bottle can surprising hold $45.56! Pretty sweet for a recycled piggybank. We’ve got more ideas and giveaways, coming soon. Stay tuned.
LUNAFEST 2010: AUSTIN – Sneak Peek
By Happy on Feb 17 Filed In Activities, Events, Food & Beverage, Uncategorized 1 Comment
“LUNAFEST was established in 2000 by LUNA, the makers of the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, to simultaneously promote women filmmakers, raise awareness for women’s issues, and support worthy women’s nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
LUNAFEST is completely funded by LUNA and run by a small, dedicated group of LUNA employees. 100 percent of all proceeds are donated to charity – 15 percent to the Breast Cancer Fund and the remaining 85 percent of proceeds go directly back to hosting community organizations.
Over the years, as LUNAFEST has grown from a single annual event to more than 140 festivals each season, LUNA’s commitment to this worthwhile program has grown as well. We are continually inspired by the individual and collective efforts of women – and we are awed by the results. To date, LUNAFEST has raised over $470,000 for worthwhile women’s organizations, while raising hope and awareness for the stories of women everywhere.”

The Dogs of Sweet Leaf Tea: BAYER
By Smashley on Feb 16 Filed In Sweet Leaf Dogs, Uncategorized 5 Comments
Bayer has been a fixture at Sweet Leaf Tea since the early years (he was just a young pup when we moved into our first office in Austin, TX). He and his owner, Mike, live here in Austin, and enjoy long walks on the Greenbelt and swimming in Barton Springs. Bayer is a 4-year old Golden Retriever, and is a perfect example of how a dog should behave. Seriously, his is more considerate than most humans!
Bayer and Mike hail from the great town of Tyler, Texas. Mike’s mom gave Bayer to Mike when he was just a young pup. In this photo, Bayer is the little golden pup on the right, next to Art, one of his best friends.
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30am- 5:30pm
Job: improve company morale. He truly makes you wonder why any company wouldn’t be dog-friendly. He greets each Tea’m member when they get to work in the morning.
Favorite place: Laying on the concrete floor by Mike’s desk, where he can watch everything going on in the office. He makes a point of saying hi to everyone in the office, sometimes getting your attention by putting his wet nose under your elbow or will simply take a nap at your feet.
Favorite flavor: TBD. He’s waiting on getting his picture on a label like Bess, another Sweet Leaf Tea canine. What flavor do you think would be best? Here are a few of our flavors if you’d like to give us your input.
Favorite thing to do at work: Get patted and in return make people feel loved.
Most memorable moment: The day that Mike taught Bayer to swim was one of the proudest in both of their lives. Check out the photo below of Bayer in the waters of the Frio River.
Best trick: It’s not really a trick, but this dog might just be the kindest creature on the planet.
Favorite toy: Bayer loves (or loved) the squeaky squirrel toy. He used to carry it around the office and would doze off with his head on it. Nowadays, you’re likely to see Bayer gumming on a tennis ball (and frequently falls asleep with it in his mouth).
Hobbies: Bayer is quite the outdoorsman. He loves going to the beach, boating on Lake Austin, playing tug-o-war with his canine pals, and pretty much doing anything with Mike. He actually learned to swim on a trip with Mike to the Frio River (see picture below), which is one of his favorite places in the world.
