Sweet New Intern Gig!

Post by Kathryn Gliniany-New Marketing Intern

My first week as a new member of the Sweet Leaf Tea’m is coming to a close. Taking time to reflect back on all that I’ve done so far made me realize that I’ve been one busy little intern during the 2 days, and that there is certainly no lack of work or entertainment in this office!

Janet and I have cozied up to one another in our intern cube to work on a number of projects this week. We are usually rocking out to some play list from my iTunes collection- Janet has yet to complain or bring any tunes of her own, so this will continue…. She’s even getting used to me talking to myself while editing a picture or typing up a document. Poor girl.

We put our muscles to use on Thursday afternoon unloading shipments of sample tea product (see picture) that will inevitably be devoured by employees and their friends and family. I’ve never seen so much bubble wrap in my life, good thing I’m a grown up and not tempted to pop it all…

Everyone in the office is so friendly and welcoming, even the dogs running around come over to our desk for a game of fetch every once in awhile. (Although Grayce doesn’t exactly drop the ball for me to throw it yet, we are working on that one!) And when you feel like you’ve been sitting too long, a game of ping pong will re-energize you to take on the next task. (This picture documents Happy’s first ping pong win!!)

I’m so excited to be a part of the Tea’m and seriously love coming to spend time working and contributing here. It’s only been 1 week so make sure to stay tuned for more of our intern adventures in the months to come!

Being the Consumer Services Manager for Sweet Leaf Tea is both fun and challenging. I go through all emails, phone calls and social media channels to gather consumer insight for our company. While it’s true that some of the “insight” are complaints, MOST of what I hear/read is positive and comes from a place of love. This brings me to the email below from a very passionate consumer, Heidi Zerbe.

The Zebers

Hello. I just wanted to thank you for not only making such an excellent product, but for creating a (what I consider) healthy addiction, considering the alternatives. Your Mint and Honey tea is my idea of heaven in a cup. Having recently gotten married, I have taken it upon myself to teach my husband his new role: late night Sheetz runs for your fabulous-ness. (It’s a word. Look it up.) I crave it like a pregger woman wants her Krispy Kremes–although I know that when we do decide to delve into the miracle of childbirth, my cravings for Mint and Honey tea will only increase…thus giving me reason to name our first born after you. (Just so you know, this will not be for some time, although I have to admit, it’s fun to tell the hubby I am just to watch the look on his face.) All this said…I love you. And although our local Sheetz convenience store is the only location I can find your tea, and they only carry maybe three flavors, I still want to thank you for your presence in my town. You rock pretty hardcore.
But I bet you already knew that.

We all know that Epiphone has some pretty sweet guitars. And we’ve been known to giveaway a few fancy-smancy ones in our time. But, when we opened up the boxes to reveal these beauties, a cat fight almost ensued to see who would hold it first. (FYI…I won.)

Sweet Epiphone Guitars

Sweet Epiphone Guitars

As much as we wanted to hide them away here, we know that these beauties are destined for greatness in someone’s hands who knows how to bring a crowd to its knees. Hence, why we’re offering up these guitars in a little contest to attendees of Gibson and Epiphone’s monthly Global Gibson Days Events this Saturday, January 30.

Yep, by attending one of the event locations below you’ll get to test drive guitars of all kinds, sip on some Sweet Leaf Tea, and find out how to enter to win great prizes including one of these SWEET EPIPHONE guitars.

So come out on Saturday to rock out and gulp down some sweet iced tea!

And the award goes to….AVATAR!!!

Last week on my birthday, I had to do something real chill since I was getting off of a 10 day cleanse. No food for 10 days, just water with fresh squeezed lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayanne pepper. I chose to cleanse the system from a few years of built up, well, stuff. So, I had to do something real chill. I decided to go and see Avatar in 3-D. I’m sure most of you or a lot of you have already seen this great film, but I was so amazed by the story line, the characters, the acting and the world of Pandora!! Pandora properly means “all giving”. And I think that’s what this film does. It gives you that glow, that knowing smile of hope that someone somewhere is thinking the same thing you are. That we have a beautiful blue planet that is all giving and the life here is precious and at it’s core the system is one of love. If you haven’t already done so, go and see it NOW!..RIGHT NOW!! You won’t be let down, unless of course you are one of those people who have no imagination and feel the need to complain about everything. But, for those of us who dream big dreams and long for a world that’s freed from the love of selfish power….we will love it, and we do!! After all, that’ll be the real birth of our days.

Last Tuesday IAmChange.org, a non-profit organization based in The Woodlands, decided to step up and do something to help our neighbors in Haiti. In just two days they planned two benefit concerts, printed tee shirts and solicited the help of  compassionate musicians, venues, partner brands and media. The concerts took place at Taft Street Coffee in Houston and Market Street in The Woodlands and raised more than $13,000 to aid those affected by this disaster.

Sweet Leaf Tea supported IAmChange.org’s efforts by donating tea that was free for attendees willing to give any donation. We passed out over 240 bottles of tea and raised hundreds of dollars. At Sweet Leaf Tea we realize the importance in giving back to our community and are honored to have been part of this event.

Steve and I were thrilled to be part of this event. Some folks donated as much as $20 for a bottle of tea.
