I will be signing autographs Saturday, September 5, from 12-2pm.

Just kidding, just kidding, I haven’t let this go to my head. I promise. But I can’t help but be super excited about being featured in the September/October issue of L Style G Style magazine. If you haven’t read my article yet click here to check it out.

So I got a call back in early July from Alisa Weldon, the founder and publisher of L Style G Style. I was so excited. You can’t help but respect a woman who sold her home and invested everything she owned in order to do something new, something to impact her community in a positive way. Alisa is an amazing role model to young professional lesbian women like myself and I couldn’t believe I was going to meet her in person. She explained the issue was going to be ACL centric, and given that Sweet Leaf Tea is an ACL staple, they wanted to feature us in the Swallow section of the magazine.

My first assignment was to meet with writer, Sam Armstrong to do an interview. We met after work at Nomad, a great little bar on the east side. I was nervous; of course I was thinking, jees I hope I am interesting enough to write an article about. As soon as I got there and met Sam I was at ease. I order my local favorite Fireman’s #4 and settled into my bar chair. He was super friendly and laid back and we chatted as we had known each other for years. He asked questions about my life and took notes on his Mac Book as we talked. After about an hour he closed the notebook and we chatted for another hour off the record.

For the second assignment, I was even more nervous than the first…a photo shoot. I have only been a part of a photo shoot one other time of my life and it was not a pleasant memory. <<FLASHBACK: My Mom decided to enroll me in modeling when I was nine. (Thanks Mom! I can’t believe I am sharing this.) Anyone that knows me now has to be laughing at that. Elizabeth walking down a runway…I don’t think so. They dressed me up in a yellow shirt and plaid shorts with Keds and I had to pose for the camera. It was awful! (And Mom if you ever show those photos to anyone I will never forgive you J)>> This photo shoot was a much better experience. Alisa and Michael Thad Carter came out to the office to shoot the photos. It was fun and luckily our in-house photographer Russell Clayton was there to help out and make me laugh.

I feel privileged to represent a company and a brand I love so much. Sweet Leaf has been an exciting journey for me and I could have sat and talked about it for hours. And to pair that with a magazine I love and support made it such an amazing experience–one that I will definitely never forget.
