SLT @ McDowell Music Festival

We quenched the thirst of more music lovers this past weekend at McDowell Music Festival. Heavy beats kept the crowd dancing with acts like Michael Franti & Spearhead and Matisyahu but it was The Flaming Lips who stole the show. Their bright orange set included confetti guns, blinding lights and, of course, teletubbies.
You may have seen us at Camelback Mountain, Old Town Scottsdale or on the ASU campus. We made sure to spread plenty of Sweet Leaf love while in AZ. Here are a few pictures with more to come…
Guaranteed Pickup lines
By Adi on Apr 22 Filed In Sweet Consumers 2 Comments
I recently read an article about how you can increase your blog traffic by simply using certain key words, a catchy title and a photo.
How about my title, huh? If you’re single why wouldn’t you want some guaranteed pick up lines. Well, I’m sorry to tell you that I have nothing. I’m an almost 40 year old married guy with two kids so the only pick up lines I use have to do with picking up toys, clothes, or dog poop in the yard. Even when I was single I had no game, so I don’t know how I can help.
I will now attempt to use some the key words that search engines like and try and tie them to Sweet Leaf Tea. Here it goes…..
Have you been thinking about your health recently? We’ll instead of drinking crappy carbonated drinks and drinks that claim to Boost, Cure, and Energize you, I empower you to choose one of our many teas as you will feel more vibrant and it will brighten up your day. Remember, when you’re feeling flush, all you have to do is think of Sweet Leaf Tea. It is your destiny!
We here at Sweet Leaf Tea, hate arrogant, cruel, greedy, people who call just to get free stuff. We’ve had enough! Never again will we fall for such shenanigans. It’s just a pointless, temporary fix and I’m tired of it. It’s a conspiracy and now it’s time for payback and avenge all that time we spent on the phone. We will turn the tables on them and reclaim our time.
How was that? Now it’s your turn.
CONTEST ALERT, CONTEST ALERT, CONTEST ALERT
I’m going to list the rest of the key words below and you can win a free Sweet Leaf Tea shirt by writing an article using all the words.
You can submit your entry to consumers@sweetleaftea.com and maybe you’ll even make it on our blog.
Here they are:
Burned, Conspiracy, Disinformation, Fleece, Swindle, Banned, Controversial, Exposed, Insider, Taboo, Agony, Foundering, Helpless, Paralyzed, Surrender, passionate, Blissful, Delightful, Jubilant, Rave, Thrilled, Deadline, Limited, and Size.
C’mon gang, go at it and be funny. Oh, I forgot the random photo….

She’s Crafty
By April on Apr 21 Filed In Sweet Leaf Tea Company News, arts & crafts 5 Comments
I know it can be considered girlie to be crafty, and I’ve never been your typical girlie-girl, but I do love me some arts & crafts. Back in the day when I worked for the Boys and Girls Club, it was my favorite thing to do with the kids, and way back in the Girl Scouts day, it was what I lived for.
As a grown-up crafting can turn into an actual hobby, or even, (GASP) art! I consider my love for paper crafting (decoupage to be more accurate) to be my art. Some folks consider it “folk art” and some just consider it junk, but to me, its a way of self expression. Art can be rather laborious, but cutting paper and gluing it to random objects made sense to me back in kindergarten and it still works for me now.

Example of decoupage-light switch plates I made 2006.
What does all of this have to do with Sweet Leaf Tea? It all started when I was sitting around with a house full of friends back in December, having a craft party. I was cutting out various pieces of paper I’ve collected over the years and spreading my SLT bottle caps out on the floor and thinking, “now what?”. I thought back on some of the consumer emails I received since starting at Sweet Leaf Tea, and remembered a few consumers asking what to do with their Sweet Leaf Tea bottle caps once they are done with them. My suggestion? Instead of throwing them away and filling up our landfills with useful metal pieces, make something useful out of them! I figure since it’s Earth Day and all, the timing is right to impart my crafting wisdom upon all of you.
What can you do with your Sweet Leaf Tea bottle caps?
Make them into cool magnets and give them away as presents or keep for yourself. Magnets are handy and cool ones are well, cool and handy. With the right pieces of paper glued inside, some added bling, and some resin, you can create a useful, art-piece! You can find all of these things around your house or just steal some from a crafty friend. Once you get going, you’ll be making such cute/cool/artsy magnets, you won’t even miss the $ you spent on supplies and HEY, if you have crafty friends, split the price, and share! This project is easy and fun especially with a group of friends, good music, snacks, and some wine. If you are underage, raid your folks’ fridge for some tasty treats and settle back with some Italian soda and fresh fruit juice. It will inspire you, I promise!
What you’ll need to get started:
- Scrap pieces of paper
- Bottle caps (Sweet Leaf Tea’s work the best!
) - Magnets (you can find these at your local hardware store, craft store, even big-box discount stores)
- Resin (found in craft stores)
- Bling (sequins, glitter, etc)
- Imagination! (free!)
- Hole punch (2 inch fit’s SLT caps perfectly!) **this is optional as you can cut the paper out by hand
- Glue (any kind will do-I’m a fan of Mod Podge, but that’s just the decopeur in me.)
- E 6000 Craft Adhesive or use a glue gun

Instructions:
1. Cut out pieces of paper that you’d like to see as your art piece. (I find it easiest to layer pieces on top of each other to look like a scene w/a background.)
2. Once you have your “scene” set up the way you want it to be inside your cap, glue it together.
3. Take your hole punch, slide your “scene” between the cutters, and punch it out. Once you do this, you’ll have a perfect circle of your picture to glue down inside of your bottle cap. (Scissors work well too!)
4. Glue scene to inside of bottle cap-smoosh down really well with fingers to remove any wrinkles or air bubbles.
5. Mix the resin per the instructions on the package. DO NOT DEVIATE from instructions! Use in a well-ventilated area, please! Your friends, family, pets will appreciate it.
6. Pour the resin in your lid, do this slowly and bit by bit, especially if you are going to use some bling, as bling looks really cool when it’s layered in the resin. (3-D effect)
7. Add your bling, then pour more resin, just about filling the lid.
8. Leave it to dry – do not touch it or move it for a good 24-48 hrs, depending on the instructions. If you touch, there WILL be finger-prints permanently on your magnet.
9. Once you’ve left it alone for at least 24-48 hrs (I might suggest waiting a few days), glue on your magnets w/the super tough adhesive.
10. Let the adhesive dry for a few days, and you’re ready to use your new super-cool Sweet Leaf Tea bottle cap/magnet!
